Phyllis Diller's movie debut
Переглядів 9 тис.13 років тому
Phyllis Diller made her debut as famed 1920s nightclub hostess Texas Guinan in 1961 in "Splendor in the Grass". This cameo role is interesting because you can get a glimpse of her standup mannerisms and vocal inflections which she carried throughout her career as the world's funniest standup comic. I love her "old" face before she underwent plastic surgery as much as the kind, beautiful face sh...

My uncle was on stage with him in 1986 he pulled him out of the audience to join him up on stage after my uncle motioned to him during a break in the song if he would give my uncle an autograph. My uncle was sitting in the front row where they have banquet tables and my uncle's elbow according to my uncle was resting on the stage where he would walk on. According to my uncle, Dean asked that he would come up and as he was going up on stage as the band was playing everybody loves somebody sometime. Dean then asked my uncle what is your name so that he may write his autograph. My uncle whose name is really Jerry said Jerry. Dean heard him the first time but I guess Dean wanted to make a joke about it and asked him again just for the punchline. When my uncle repeated his name was Jerry, Dean slapped his forehead with a palm of his hand and said: I just can't get rid of these Jerry's (Because of Jerry Lewis) the audience was cracking up. After Dean shook my uncle's hands my uncle mentioned that his hands are ice cold perhaps because of the apple juice that he had in his hand or the metal because of the microphone that he was holding in his hand. He also mentioned that the back lower part of Dean's fingers the part closest to the hand were real poofy and super soft like marshmallows / pillows. He has the original pen and napkin where Dean autographed his name etc. In a glass shadow box. As he was walking back to his seat, the band played everybody love somebody once again.

Don't stay too long. I need a little ah, little ooh, little oh, And I'm knocking on wood. Ah, honey hurry up, hurry up, hurry up It's so hard to be good I'd rather be blue thinking of you I'd rather be blue over you Than be happy with somebody else Will I be good? Will I be bad? Don't be a fool, you fool. My little flat, I'm turning that Into a Sunday school While you're away, I'm here to say There'll be no iceman there. Singin' the blues I'm gonna use Nothin' but Frigidaire. I loved this show , it was shown in the late 70’s in the UK on Saturday Morning kids tv , her laugh was hilarious 🤣 I would have been 12 years old in 1979 and used to sing to the intro song , still remember it now , every word 👍🏻 back in the day when tv was fun and the world was a far more lighthearted place to live in . How times have changed 😢
